Description of Job

GENERAL SUMMARY

This is a 2 year grant funded position. This position will serve as the operational lead for the implementation and administration of the CO-Tech Apprenticeship program at the Community College of Denver. This includes community networking, program development, and meeting grant reporting requirements.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Build relationships with and create a network of industry partners:

• Foster and sustain collaborative relationships with industry partners to gain a better understanding of the needs, challenges and opportunities employers are presented with when developing their work force.

• Work with industry partners to gain an understanding of the skills and competencies needed to be successful in the IT industry. Communicate this information back to programs to inform and coordinate the development of curriculum.

• Engage apprenticeship contacts within local workforce boards and sector partnerships in conversations to explore partnership opportunities.

Administer apprenticeship programs within the instructional department, intra-institutional offices, industry partners:

• Serve as the primary CCD connection to CCCS for the CO-TECH grant and any subsequent apprenticeship grants in IT/TECH.

• Serve as the primary external contact for CCD apprenticeship options in the IT/TECH field and work closely with the Director of Corporate Solutions to develop new partnerships.

• Lead the start-up of new IT/TECH apprenticeships which could include financial analysis, curriculum development, delivery model (i.e., hybrid, online) recruiting students, partnership contracts (MOUs), HLC requirements, assessment metrics, etc. Work within the current college practices such as program approval, accreditation details and system parameters.

• Collaborate with Deans, Program Leads/Directors and Faculty throughout the design and implementation process.

• Ensure CCD IT/TECH apprenticeship programs are identified as education providers through the workforce ETPL site.

• Create an assessment process and timeline to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of each apprenticeship program.

• Serve as a sponsor, or work with a sponsor, for registered apprenticeships as appropriate which includes gaining approval to be a RA sponsor, filing related reports, monitor work hours and required pay increases, and assure industry partners fulfill apprenticeship requirements.

• Tracking metrics and measurable progress of project funds to ensure efficient and effective success for grantees.

Educate industry partners, college faculty and staff, and students about the benefits of apprenticeship programs:

• Explore opportunities and initiate meetings with industry partners to help them understand what apprenticeships are and the role they play in developing well rounded employees.

• Educate industry partners about community colleges role in supporting the communities they are a part of and helping to develop the community members.

• Initiate discussions with college faculty and staff regarding the importance of apprenticeships and help them understand what role apprenticeships play in student success.

• Remain current with trends in the state and nation and be knowledgeable about the variety of apprenticeship models.

• Based on employer needs, explore non-credit and credit IT/TECH apprenticeship models, educational options including PLA options, compressed completion options and a variety of delivery modalities.

• Collaborate with the marketing department to create appropriate web pages (and/or Intranet site) and promotional materials to inform.

Serve as CO-Tech grant administrator:

• Work with fiscal to monitor, expend and reconcile grant budget.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for the college related to the grant.

• Develop and submit regular grant reports as required.

• Meet the stated goals of the grant.

Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Education:

4-year B.S./B.A. Degree.

Experience:

Experience working in higher education.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Understanding of the community college mission.

• Understanding the role of local work force development offices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

• Experience in apprenticeship programs.

• Experience in growing industry partnerships.

SELECTION PROCESS
