POSITION OVERVIEW:

The drywall apprentice is an entry-level position focused on learning the skills and techniques required for installing drywall (to include framing, hanging and insulating drywall and acoustical ceilings). Drywall apprentices work under the supervision of experienced drywall professionals to develop their expertise in this field.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ + Drywall Installation and Framing Process – Position assists in the following: the framing of walls and ceilings using light gauge and structural steel studs; cutting the panels as needed for doors, windows, electrical outlets, lighting, HVAC and plumbing fixtures; carrying and accurately installing the drywall to size (with limited waste); attaching the drywall to the walls; cutting metal and wood studs to size; and applying drywall trims.

  • Insulation – Assists in insulating wall and ceiling cavities as required with Fiberglass, Mineral Wool, or Rigid insulation; cutting with a utility, or filet knife is required.

  • Acoustical Ceilings – Employee also cuts and installs metal ceiling grid, with metal, wood, mineral fiber, or drywall ceiling panels. Employee assists in cutting to precise dimensions and layout per the plans for lights and mechanical fixtures.

  • Clean-Up – Employee maintains an organized work space and also protects surfaces, trimmings, fixture and windows, etc. as he/she works through and completes the drywall work. Finisher is also responsible for putting tools and equipment back in its proper place, and returning any unused items at the end of a project.

  • Safety- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others on the job site.

  • Learning- Learn and apply drywall techniques, including understanding different types of drywall methods and techniques, and the safe operation of tools and equipment.

  • Teamwork- Collaborate with experienced drywall professionals and other construction team members to complete projects efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

In this position you will/ will have:

  • Ability to reliably work scheduled hours of 6am-3pm M-F.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (helpful, but not required.)

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks.

  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced professionals.

  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools used in the drywall trade is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Basic understanding of safety protocols and the importance of following them.

  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and E-Verify.

  • Reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Be able to read and understand construction documents in English.
