Naval Facilities Engineering Command HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

Summary You will serve as a HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE in the UTILITIES DIVISION, APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII. Responsibilities You will follow detailed instructions and assist a Supervisor, Work Leader, or Journeyman in performing simple tasks (e.g. passing tools, learning how to use tools, gathering materials, etc.). You will will follow instructions to perform simple tasks following general instruction (e.g. assists with pulling wire, splicing, etc.). You will assist journeyperson in installing cables, pulling wires, attaching wires to fish tape, basket grips, and keeping wires from kinds of abrasion. You will lay out and prepare various components and determine the detail of the job from blueprints or by direction of the journeyperson, training leader, or supervisor. You will assist in the preparation of lists of materials, gathering the material, stocking trucks, and unloading material and equipment at the job sites, restocking of truck and clean up jobsite. You will work on underground lines, run wires or cable through tunnels on conduits or lays protected cable in trenches. Education Additional Information This Apprentice (Trade) position is registered with the Department of Labor in accordance with 29 CFR 29. Graduates of this four year apprenticeship program will be prepared for a career in their trade under the regulations prescribed by the U.S. Office of Personnel and certified as apprenticeship completers by both the Department of Navy and the Department of Labor. Promotions within the program are based on the WT pay scale as defined in 5 CFR 532.265. Promotion eligibility within the program is contingent on validation of satisfactory standing in all completed coursework and documented satisfactory completion of no less than 900 hours of non-overtime On-the-Job Learning within each 26 week promotion period. The apprenticeships are defined in four phases, each phase typically taking approximately one year. The level of work at each phase is comparable to that expected of the corresponding wage grades regarding work, knowledge and responsibility. Additional requirements to satisfactorily complete all academic and trade theory coursework with a minimum of 2.5 on a 4.0 grade scale is applied to each promotion. You should list any relevant performance appraisals and incentive awards in your resume as that information may be taken into consideration during the selection process. If selected, you may be required to provide supporting documentation. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
