We're looking for a mission-driven Apprentice, People and Culture who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB

  • Provide general People & Culture administrative support including, but not limited to: filing, drafting, and editing correspondence.

  • Coordinate and monitor administrative functions to ensure completion of work are accurate and within established time frames.

  • Enter and record data in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for payroll changes, new hires, terminations, and status changes. Produces ad hoc reports, when needed.

  • Support project/special assignment by gathering information, conducting internet and other research on various People & Culture topics, as required.

  • Assist in preparing job posting for various websites and ensure that posting is accessible on the CNIB website (www.cnib.ca).

  • Collect resumes and phone screen candidates.

  • Schedule meeting and interviews.

  • Assist with the development of training guides and other projects.

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with Ontario legislation and regulations.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Customer service oriented with well-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent administrative, time-management, and organizational skills.

  • Experience in database entry, preferable People@Work.

  • Ability to work with private and confidential material.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the team, and/or work independently to achieve departmental goals in an efficient way.

  • Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and competing priorities in a timely manner, while still producing high-quality work.

  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.

  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
